What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?

The last digit is also the check number and the rest of the digits are transliterated to numbers. For instance the first digit is given a value of eight; then each subsequent digit increases by one until it reaches nine at the seventh digit, and then becomes two. Then the whole VIN will be translated back to its original form by multiplying each weight by 11. If the result is equivalent to the check digit, then the VIN is valid.
